GUIDELINES-Allotment Of Immediate PAN by way of Aadhaar card Based e-KYC
General scheme of Immediate PAN allotment:
Allotment of Immediate Pan is for those informants who:-
1. obtains a recognised Aadhaar number
2. PAN is come forth in PDF form version to informants, which is free of cost.
3. The informant is expected to write in her/his recognised Aadhaar number and fit the OTP generated on the registered mobile number. 4. One time the procedure is accomplish, a 15-digit acknowledgment number is originated.
5. Once request is accomplish, the informant can check the status of the request.
6. Informant can download the PAN at any time by submitting recognised Aadhaar number and on successful allotment.
7. The informant will also obtain a copy of the PAN card in the PDF format with the registered e-mail id.

The salient features are:

  • The informant should have a recognised Aadhaar card number which is not linked to any other PAN card.
  • The informant should have his/her registered mobile number with Aadhaar number .
  • It is free of cost and Paper-less procedure and applicants are not need to refer/sumit or upload any documents.
  • The applicant should not have another PAN.
  • Possession of more than one PAN will be punishable under section 272B(1) of Income-tax Act,1961.

Procedure : immediate PAN

  1. To apply for PAN, please visit the ”e-Filing website of Income-tax department”. (Url: www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in)
  2. go to the link- ‘Instant PAN through Aadhaar’.
  3. go to the link- ‘Get New PAN’.
  4. Fill the details of your Aadhaar in the space provided and put correct captcha then confirm the details.
  5. The informant will get an OTP on the registered Aadhaar mobile number; fit this OTP in the space provided on the web page.
  6. After submit the details, an acknowledgement number will be originate. Kindly keep this acknowledgment number for future reference.
  7. On prosperous ending, a text will be sent to the informant’s registered mobile number and e-mail id (if registered in UIDAI & authenticated by OTP). This message specifies the acknowledgement number.

Procedure: download PAN

  1. To download PAN, please visit the e-Filing website of Income-tax department. (Url: www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in)
  2. Go to the link- ‘Instant PAN through Aadhaar’.
  3. Go to the link- ‘Check Status of PAN’.
  4. fit the Aadhaar number in the space provided, then fit the OTP sent to the Aadhaar registered mobile number.
  5. Check the status of application- whether PAN is allotted or not.
  6. If PAN is allotted, go to on the download link to obtain a copy of the e-PAN pdf.

NOTE: PAN and validity of PAN 

  • Electronically issued and Digitally signed ePAN is now a valid mode of issue of PAN post amendments in clause (c) in the Explanation occurring after sub- section (8) of Section 139A of Income Tax Act, 1961 and sub-rule (6) of Rule 114 of the Income Tax Rules, 1962.
  • Government has recently amended sub-rule (6) of Rule 114 of the Income Tax Rules, 1962, vide G.F.R 1128(E), dated 19/11/2018 for empowering the Pr. DGIT(S) to notify formats and standards
    along with procedure of issue of PAN.
  • Resultant to notification dated 19/11/2018, Pr. DGIT(S) has notified procedure, formats and standards of issue of PAN vide Directorate of Income-tax (Systems) notification 7/2018 dated 27.12.2018. Resultant to this notification, electronically issued digitally signed e-PAN now is a valid mode of issue of PAN.
  • e-PAN also contains enhanced QR code having demographic (Name, DOB) as well as biometric (scanned photo and signatures) information of the PAN holders which can be accessed and used for PAN verification purposes in off-line mode.
